Case Study: Major Egg Producer
The client had a requirement to rapidly chill liquid egg prior to bulk distribution to extend shelf life. The product was required to be less than 3°C and the cooling medium side of the plate heat exchanger needed to be drained at regular intervals to enable CIP to take place.
Penmann designed a cooling system to provide chilled water at 1°C to provide cooling at the product heat exchanger.

The chilled water was provided using a secondary plate heat exchanger utilising glycol solution as the primary cooling medium sourced from a glycol chiller. The system was designed to prevent freezing of the secondary heat exchanger. The plant was provided as a single, skid mounted unit complete with primary and secondary pumps, buffer vessel, secondary heat exchanger and pre-wired controls to enable quick and easy site installation.
