When George Adams one of the leading Pork Pie producers in the UK, were looking to replace their evaporative cooled pre coolers at their Ruskington site. They engaged the services of Penmann Climatic Systems to design and install a new turnkey solution.
Penmann have over 30 years experience in the provision of cooling solutions to the food industry. They firstly undertook an accurate survey of the existing plant to produce an outline specification. Once agreed they were then able to produce a full design specification for final client approval. The system was designed for future expansion with the ability to add additional cooling if required to achieve lower temperatures.
The project involved the careful removal of the existing enclosures and evaporating coils and associated frame work in the centre of the fully operational factory. New enclosures, coils and associated stainless steel frames were then installed. Externally the Cooling Tower and associated pumps were also replaced.
Formal handover was achieved within the agreed timescale, after full commissioning and formal handover of O&M manuals
The use of the evaporative cooling to pre cool the pies is a very energy efficient method of pre cooling products with the COP (coefficient of performance) being 3 to 4 times that of mechanical cooling.
“ Penmann were able to offer a seamless design and contracting service. The project was well managed and the system is performing extremely well”
Chris Ward Group Engineering Manager.
