Cereal Partners process area cooling

Overview

Client: Cereal Partners

Industry: Food

Project Overview: Phased introduction of high temperature production area air systems eliminates need for steam heating

Outcomes

  • Heating costs reduced to zero
  • Electrical consumption significantly reduced
  • System effect improved
  • Production efficiency improved as a consequence
  • Maintenance cost reduced

Challenges

The existing plant in the product forming area was old-fashioned with inefficient fans and high steam usage, operating on full fresh air.

Solutions

We stripped out the old systems and installed new ones, using high temperature production area air to eliminate the need for steam heating. The new systems were installed, one at a time, so as not to disrupt production.

We used existing apertures to minimise down time and complied with our client’s hygienic construction standards. Our full stainless steel construction featured energy efficient fans, utilised with inverter speed control.

Conclusion

In conclusion, by designing and installing a fully automated system within a tight footprint, we successfully transformed the client’s powder mixing room. The new system maintains the target production temperature of 10°C, ensures the area is completely dry after wash-down, and achieves microbiological targets, significantly reducing the risk of germ outbreaks. Despite space constraints and the need for continuous 24/7 production, our solution was implemented swiftly, utilising the existing refrigeration plant and incorporating HEPA filtration levels. This resulted in a more efficient and hygienic production environment, meeting the client’s high standards and operational needs.
