Many of you are aware of Penmann’s commitment to improving the lives of homeless people and have seen John Kirwin, our Sales & Marketing Director, volunteering down at The Crypt in Leeds. In addition, Penmann is very proud to have donated to the wonderful work of this organisation and its significant role in helping to combat alcoholism and mental health within the communities it serves.
Now that charity shops have re-opened John was able to schedule his annual volunteering day down at the SGC charity shop ‘Preloved of Pudsey’. An annual volunteering day is part of Penmann’s CSR policy and every member of staff has a day off to volunteer to support a charity or cause close to their hearts.
When John arrived at the shop there were numerous bags of donated items waiting for him to get stuck into! Hi task for the day was to sort out donations to go on the shelves and hang on the rails.
He was working alongside Caroline, who manages the shop and her team, and was joined by a volunteer who recently benefitted from the support and care of SGC during his time of crisis, now giving back and volunteering at the shop.
John grabbed himself a couple of items into the bargain, including a splendid golf trolley. Best start getting back out on the course then John!
A great day at the Pudsey shop and John is looking forward to volunteering again.
