Judith is adding to the Penmann charity fundraising team’s activities on Saturday 6th July by taking part in the York Midnight Walk. It’s a 7 mile walk around York at midnight (unsurprisingly!) to raise money for St Leonard’s Hospice and the wonderful work they do there.
St Leonard’s is an independent charity, providing specialist palliative care and support for local people with life limiting illnesses. Care is free of charge to patients and their families but not free to provide. As a charity they rely heavily on the generosity of the public to raise just over £5.2 million each year. This equates to £595 for every hour of every day. Although St Leonard’s does get some public funding the majority of the running costs have to be raised from donations and fundraising by the local community – businesses, groups and individuals.
