Penmann Team to Join Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in Memory of Oliver Holroyd
Following the success of our 2023 National 3 Peaks Challenge and last year’s Calderdale Way trek, we’re proud to announce our next endurance fundraising event for 2025. A joint team from Penmann and Newsome will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge in support of the Stroke Association – a charity that now holds deep personal significance for many of us.
A Meaningful Challenge
On Saturday 13th September 2025, our team will set out to walk the iconic 24-mile route, which takes in the summits of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough. With over 5,000 feet of elevation, it’s a tough physical test, but one we’re determined to complete together, in memory of Oliver Holroyd, a much-loved friend of several members of the team.
Walking for Oly
Our decision to support the Stroke Association was driven by the devastating loss of Oliver earlier this year. On 22nd March 2025, at just 29 years old, Oliver tragically passed away after suffering a stroke while abroad with friends celebrating his upcoming wedding. He was a childhood friend of three members of the team, and his sudden death has left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Oliver leaves behind his fiancée, Paige, and their one-year-old son, Finley. It’s a loss that continues to be deeply felt by his family, friends, and community. This walk is not just a challenge but a tribute – a way to honour his memory and turn that heartbreak into something positive.
Supporting the Stroke Association
The Stroke Association plays a vital role in raising awareness of stroke risk factors, funding medical research, and providing essential support to stroke survivors and their families. Importantly, they also highlight that strokes are not just something that affects older people – a message that resonates with us more now than ever. We hope that through this challenge, we can raise both awareness and funds to help the Stroke Association continue its life-saving work and to shine a light on the importance of prevention, education, and support.
Get Involved
We’re asking our wider network – clients, suppliers, friends, and partners – to support us however they can. Every donation, no matter how small, goes directly to the Stroke Association and helps fund research, recovery services, and community initiatives that make a real difference.
Details of our fundraising page and updates from training and the challenge itself will be shared across the Penmann and Newsome channels in the weeks ahead. We thank everyone in advance for their generosity and encouragement as we prepare for this meaningful journey.
