“Difficult to believe I joined the Penmann family business 27 years ago in 1997.

My younger brother Damian had taken over running the company from our father Laurie in 1992. However, my father was still hanging around providing his input!!!

When I joined we were a team of team of 5 based in a leased property in Horsforth, Leeds. We had one computer that was only turned on to run some refrigeration calculation. We were fortunate in those early years to win a major project with Uniq Foods c £2M which secured our future but also provided capital for us to relocate to our current location in 1999.

I’m unsure looking back whether I saw this move as a permanent one or something temporary that would give me experience inside a unique technical engineering design organisation working for leading brands on the UK Food and Drinks landscape who acknowledge that we are the best in the business at what we do.

I must have settled on the former option as here I am 27 years later as Sales and Marketing Director still driving sales, constantly promoting our technical abilities and enhanced levels of customer service as well as driving business expansion. The part I probably enjoy most is developing and maintaining relationships with a great range of customers right across the food industry.

Penmann is an entirely different business now of course but at the heart of it is our skilled and technically excellent team that is responsible for our ongoing growth and reputation in our market space.

It’s a great place to work and enjoy the many benefits that we are able to offer to our colleagues as a result of our hard work.
