This is our second donation to the local school where £500 was gratefully received by the Friends of Pool Primary School (FOPPS) who have been raising much needed funds to build two outdoor classrooms in the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds.

Currently neither playground has any form of shelter for children during playtimes. The classrooms will provide shelter as well as new learning opportunities for the children.

On behalf of the PTA Sarah told us: “As a school situated in a less deprived area, we attract very little additional funding for pupils, and grants available for schools are usually allocated to those with much greater levels of deprivation. FOPPS are constantly working hard to raise funding to improve facilities at the school and this latest project will provide children with new learning opportunities that aren’t possible in an indoor classroom. Learning outdoors can increase engagement and concentration, support mental health and deepens the connection with nature. The playground is also open to the wider community- the outdoor classrooms will offer alternative outdoor meeting spaces and bring benefits to the whole village.
