The importance of good mental health and wellbeing

Penmann Mental Health Week

This week 15th– 21st May is Mental Health Awareness Week

If you follow my John Kirwin’s Linked In posts and his Vlogs whilst out Mountain Biking, you will know how much focus he places on the importance of looking after our own mental health and that of those around us.

It’s the same at Penmann. Over the past several years we have implemented a series of initiatives to take care of our people’s mental health. Our Team Engagement programme includes exercises and an annual team away weekend; Judith is a qualified Mental health first aider and is fully equipped to spot any signs of anxiety and how to handle it with empathy; we give an extra day of holiday for people to volunteer at a charity or initiative of their choice; and our flexible working policy gives people a chance to balance their working and personal lives in the best possible way.

Next week a personal development coach will talk to the team about addressing stress and anxiety and how to avoid it holding us back from achieving our goals.

If you would like to share how you support your teams or colleagues we’d welcome your comments.
